This planned event comes 43 days after Pope Francis' birthday and 43 years after a different plane crashed into a bridge and plunged into the river in the winter.
According to NBCNEWS, Air Florida Flight 90 struck the 14th Street Bridge and went into the Potomac River on Jan. 13, 1982. Of the people on the plane, 74 of the 79 passengers and crew died. Four people in vehicles on the bridge were killed.
